@Journ@l of Structur@l Chemistry
Re: @Journ@l of Structur@l Chemistry
Thank you so very much for this very important English Translated Journal. Most of the world does not speak Russian and statistically Speaking both English and Mandarin seem to have become the most dominant publishing languages in the scientific literature as of the past 20 years. All of your hard work and dedication have really paid off and mean very much to researchers like myself who work with limited funding, constant pressure from superiors and having everything published in English ready to go, read, research, and quickly decide whether further investigation along the "Russian Chemical Citation Trail" is necessary makes our jobs 1000 times easier. Thank you very very much. If only every Russian text/journal/periodical was already translated (or if there is was cheap and easy to use software that would allow for a rescanning of the original OCR text characters and then perform a Google Translate translation for the specific document, and then move on. Similar software doing this same process for all English based scientific communications, journals and textbooks, German, (vice versa), and Finally the biggest and most comprehensive translation effort of them all the Mandarin Chinese scientific literature and/or Doctoral/Graduate level theses, their eventual conversion to electronic (scanned) OCR format(s) and then a translation of this invaluable Chinese literature into plain English would do so much for the sharing and intercommunication of ideas and theories and between a Russian chemical theorist or related theoretical scientistic in Russian or the USA, and a prompt, regular process of communication between the theory and the experimental work being done all over the work, not to mention all over Mainlaind China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, etc. The poor electronic barriers of free access that greedy publishers have attempted to implement over the years have only served to stifle scientific progress. Who knows how many decades or more we would not have lost if it weren't for greedy publishers' and their corporate publishing corporations making billions off of slowly stifling science and slowing the pace of progress. I don't mind a capitilistic system where for profit publishers do have a genuine place in the prompt and rapid distribution of new scientific discoveries. Just look at the Chinese system. Most of their published scientific content is NOT open source and requires the payment of a small fee or very small subscription in order to download. For example, in the USA, it can cost nearly $35-50 USD to purchase the full text of a SINGLE 5-10 page scientific article. In China, most recently published and even some digitized archived publications are available for a very small and reasonable flat fee of about $0.40 USD (40-cents) per articles and at most there are only a handful of very small Chinese publishing companies that charge up to a single USD ($1 USD) to simply purchase the full text reading rights, download and OWN a single scientific article. Which is perfectly reasonable.
Thanks for all your effort. Keep up the good work and effort.
