Acta Crystallographica Section A: Foundations of Crystallography publishes papers reporting fundamental advances in all areas of crystallography in the broadest sense. The central themes are, on the one hand, experimental and theoretical studies of the properties and arrangements of atoms, ions and molecules in condensed matter, ideal or real, and of their symmetry and, on the other, the theoretical and experimental aspects of the various methods to determine these arrangements.
Acta Crystallographica Section B: Structural Science publishes papers in which structure is the primary focus of the work reported. The central themes of Structural Science are the acquisition of structural knowledge from novel experimental observations or from existing data, the correlation of structural knowledge with physico-chemical and other properties, and the application of this knowledge to solve problems in the structural domain. Structural Science has broad chemical coverage, encompassing metals and alloys, inorganics and minerals, metal-organics and purely organic compounds.
Acta Crystallographica Section D: Biological Crystallography welcomes the submission of papers covering any aspect of structural biology, with a particular emphasis on the structures of biological macromolecules and the methods used to determine them. Reports on new protein structures are particularly encouraged, as are structure-function papers that could include crystallographic binding studies, or structural analysis of mutants or other modified forms of a known protein structure. The key criterion is that such papers should present new insights into biology, chemistry or structure.
Acta Crystallographica Section E: Structure Reports Online is the IUCr's highly popular open-access structural journal. It provides a simple and easily accessible publication mechanism for the growing number of inorganic, metal-organic and organic crystal structure determinations. The electronic submission, validation, refereeing and publication facilities of the journal ensure very rapid and high-quality publication, whilst key indicators and validation reports provide measures of structural reliability.
Acta Crystallographica Section F: Structural Biology and Crystallization Communications is a rapid all-electronic journal, which provides a home for short communications on the crystallization and structure of biological macromolecules. Structures determined through structural genomics initiatives or from iterative studies such as those used in the pharmaceutical industry are particularly welcomed.
Advances in Synchrotron Radiation is an international peer-reviewed journal for synchrotron radiation. It offers a focal place for any research work involving synchrotron radiation, from generation to applications, theoretical and experimental. It welcomes original research papers with equal emphasis as papers with review character, such as topical review articles, annual research highlights of synchrotron light sources, and conference and workshop papers. It is, thus, helping readers to keep an overview of the burgeoning field of synchrotron-radiation-related research and development and, in particular, to bring source developers and users together.
