Phd student in the institute of physical chemistry in warsaw
Описание вакансии:
PhD student needed in the Institute of Physical Chemistry in Warsaw, Poland for a study involving mostly calculations and NMR measurements of strained hydrocarbons with unusual spatial structure. If you are interested in highly distorted molecules having planar cyclohexane or nonplanar aromatics rings, linear arrangement of bonds with a tetravalent carbon atom at the vertex and similar pecularities, some of which do exist while other await their syntheses and proves of the unusual structure, have a look into the selected articles on highly strained hydrocarbons with unusual spatial structure listed on the webpage http://ichf.edu.pl/person/dodziuk.htm and contact Prof. Helena Dodziuk at dodziuk@ichf.edu.pl;
As can be seen in the webpage, the group is also involved in studies in supramolecular chemistry and, if interested, the student could also take part in this research.
The candidate is expected to be computer literate (WINDOWS and UNIX systems, Gaussian and, preferably but not the condition, DALTON programs) and be able to communicate in English.
The entrance exam is based on "Physical Chemistry" by Atkins. The topics of recent exams (in Polish) are given on the institute webpage. The exam includes also a test of knowledge of English language. The next exam will be carried out in March.
