A fully funded 4-year PhD position for an outstanding candidate is available immediately at the Stratingh Institute (University of Groningen) in the group of Dr. Katalin Barta. The research group is embedded in the Organic Chemistry structural unit, headed by Prof. Ben Feringa.
The research program in the broader sense is focused on green chemistry. The position involves the development of efficient homogenous catalysts for reactions related to the catalytic conversion of renewables. The tasks will include organic synthesis, the preparation of organometallic complexes and catalysis.
The ideal candidate has a Masters or equivalent degree in chemistry with a strong interest in catalysis and green chemistry. Good proficiency of the English language is required. Affinity with experimental work and good knowledge of standard laboratory procedures and analytical methods will be beneficial.
The posts are available immediately and should be filled no later than 1 September 2013.
The monthly gross salary is 2042 euro per month in the first year, increasing to 2612 euro in the final year.
