Руководитель исследования, Мэй Нимен (May Nyman) отмечает, что полиоксониобаты были известны с середины ХХ века, однако именно новое исследование их комплексообразующих свойств раскрыло их новый потенциал. Полиоксониобаты могут использоваться не только как агенты для разрушения нервно-паралитических веществ, их химические и физические свойства также позволяют применять их в качестве абсорбента диоксида углерода, тем не менее, по словам Нимена, до настоящего времени их потенциал не был изучен.
